A Stepwise Solvent Extraction Process for Recovering Yttrium from Sulphate Leach Solutions of Deep-sea Mud

A novel approach for recovering yttrium from high ferric and strong acidic sulphate leach solutions of deep-sea mud by stepwise extraction stripping has been developed. The results show that the first step N235+TBP system can extract H2SO4 well adjust raffinates to a desirable pH, while only iron was selectively co-extracted with negligible loss ions. organic solution be easily regenerated using 50 g/L strip extracted followed deionized water H2SO4. raffinate could directly used second P204+TBP system, co-extracted. separated through sequentially process 0.6 mol/L H2C2O4 solution. Over whole process, enriched into liquor sulfate. extractants returned recycling.
